Erin Lainevool
Erin J. Lainevool was born and raised in London, Ontario. Her family's summer treks north to the cottage fostered a love of the North. She completed her Baccalaureate education at McMaster University, in Political Science, along with a Minor degree in International Justice and Human Rights, in 1997.
Erin graduated with her Baccalaureate in Laws from the University of Windsor in 2000. To compliment her interest in First Nations issues, Erin completed the Intensive Land, Resources and First Nations Government program at Osgoode Hall as part of her Law degree. With her law degree in hand, Erin employed ingenuity and persistence to create an opportunity to complete her Articles in North Bay; and she became a Northern import in September 2000. After nine years of practice she joined Wallace Klein in January 2011.
Erin practices primarily in criminal defence and mental health law. She looks forward to the opportunity to expand her experience in the criminal justice system, by assisting with prosecutions under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.
Erin is an active member of the Ontario Bar Association, and the Criminal Lawyer's Association. She has served as a Board member for a number of local organizations; including the Community Counseling Centre of Nipissing, and the Lindsay Weld Centre for Children. Erin was appointed in 2007, as a Member of the Consent and Capacity Board under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.
Erin has also contributed to the Criminal Justice programs at both Canadore College, and Nipissing University. Most recently she was a sessional instructor in the School of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies program at Nipissing University teaching Youth in Conflict with the Law, and Wrongful Convictions during the 2010 academic terms.
When it's time to get out of the office, Erin enjoys skiing, hiking, and weekends at the cottage with her husband and two children.
